Spark in Shade from the Stories of Life collection by Excel achieves that quality with a design that layers two ideas seamlessly: a richly distressed concrete and stone ground, and scattered across it, small four-pointed star and diamond motifs at varying scales that catch the light like mineral inclusions in polished stone.

The motifs are subtle rather than decorative — they do not announce themselves from across the room. Instead they reward proximity, revealing themselves as a quietly considered detail embedded in what might otherwise read as a plain textured surface.
